Pazham Pori is a popular Kerala snack served as an evening snack. Ripe plantain or Nendra Pazham is used to prepare this. Sliced bananas dipped in a batter and deep fried. These bananas are not so easily available everywhere, but if you find a Kerala shop, then surely can get it from there.

Usually the Pazham poris you get from thattukada shop are made by bananas cut lengthwise and dipped in a batter made out of maida. Here, we are going to make a healthier twist with a better version in taste. These are slightly crispy and sweet and makes up a perfect guilt free snack.

How to make Kerala Pazham Pori | Healthy Plantain Fritters with step by step photos:

1. Peel 3 big ripe plantains. Cut it half and cut each half in 3 slices as shown in picture.

2. Make a batter by mixing all the ingredients except banana. It should be thick so when you drop the banana slice into the batter, it should float like shown in picture.

3. Heat oil for deep frying on high flame. Once its hot, take a banana slice and coat all the sides well. Drip off the excess batter and put it into hot oil. Lower the flame.

4. Repeat with other slices. Don’t overcrowd the kadai. Fry both side till golden brown. Take out on a tissue paper. Serve it hot.

  • 1 cup Wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp Rice flour
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • pinch Salt
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  • 1- 1.5 tsp Black till
  • 1 cup Water
  • 3 no Ripe bananas / Kerala Plantain/ Nendra Pazham
