Chicken Shawarma Recipe
Easy, healthy and homemade Chicken Shawarma wrapped in a flat bread and served with some tahini sauce makes up a perfect snack or light dinner.
Chicken Shawarma is a popular middle-eastern food. When I first saw how it was made in restaurants, I never thought it can be prepared at home easily.
Basically it is marinated boneless chicken stacked on a vertical rotisserie or spit, slow roasted and served as and when required. While making this at home, we don’t require a spit, a simple pan fry or grilling will do the job. It is so simple to prepare and easy to assemble everything. Here I have used a basic mayonnaise for the sauce, but you can use Ranch dressing also, it tastes so yum!
So, do try and let me know how it turned out for you. And if you like it, do share it with your family and friends.
How to make Chicken Shawarma with step by step photos:-
Wash chicken breast 2-3 times. Cut it in small pieces. Add all the ingredients for marination. Mix well and refrigerate for 3-4 hours or overnight.
Cook cabbage till half done. Chop all remaining vegetables. Crush garlic cloves. And add it along with mayonaise to the chopped vegetables. Mix everything well.
Assembling:
Prepare flat bread as required. I made chapati for this. you can make a pita bread or even wrap it in roomali roti. Place chapati on a flat surface and start assembling all the ingredients. Spread the vegetable mix at the centre, followed by cooked chicken and wrap it. You can more pepper or chilly powder according to taste. Serve it with more sauce if needed.
