Coconut Chutney

White coconut chutney which accompanies best with all the South Indian breakfast dishes. This chutney is super easy to prepare and tastes delicious.

Coconut Chutney

This white coconut chutney or a basic coconut chutney is a must to prepare to go along with dosa or idli

Ingredients to grind:

1 cup Grated Coconut

1 no medium – big garlic clove

2 no green chillies

 2 tbsp roasted chana dal / puttakadalai

2 no Shallots

1/2 inch Tamarind seedless (small piece)

1 spring of curry leaves

1/2 cup water

1/2 tsp Salt

Add all the ingredients into a mixer. Pulse it once.

Add water and grind to a fine paste.

Transfer the paste to a bowl.

Wash the mixie jar with 1/4 cup more water and pour it to the chutney.

In a tadka pan, heat oil. Splutter mustard and urad dal, a pinch of hing, curry leaves and dried red chilly.

Pour this seasoning over the chutney. Serve it with Idli and dosa.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 tsp Split urad dal

  • 1.5 tsp coconut oil

  • Few curry leaves

  • 1 no Dry chilly, broken

Directions

  • Add all the ingredients into a mixer jar. Pulse it once.
  • Add water and grind to a fine paste.
  • Transfer the paste to a bowl.
  • Wash the mixie jar with 1/4 cup more water and pour it to the chutney.
  • In a tadka pan, heat oil. Splutter mustard and urad dal, curry leaves and dried red chilly.
  • Pour this seasoning over the chutney. Serve it with Idli and dosa.
